On March 6, 1907 the Corporation Municipale du Canton de Montcalm was formed and in 1992 the name was modified to MUNICIPALITÉ DE MONTCALM.
Located on a countryside of mountainous terrains and literally surrounded by lakes such as (Beaven, Rond, du Brochet, des Pins, Proctor, à la Chaîne, Charest, Munich , Verdure, Earl, Berval, Félix, etc..), the municipality is crossed by provincial highways #327 and #364. All activities are linked to our agricultural and logging heritage. We also have a few businesses one of which is Telegobe. They have installed a satellite station in which they distribute overseas telecommunications. The most important sector of the municipality is located on the shores of lacs Rond and Beaven, followed by le Domaine du Mont-Blanc and by Lac Verdure.
The name of Montcalm was chosen for the township and thereafter for the municipality in honour of the glorious French General Lord Louis-Joseph, of Saint-Véran and marquis of Montcalm (1727-1759). The nobleness of the General reveals itself in the symbiosis of greenness and charming landscape, which is being used as a background drop scene in the Municipality.
